For the past few years I’ve been taking photos with a Nikon D3000. Nothing more than a hobby. Until 2013 that was. There was a competition where you could enter a photo every day and the best were published in a book: Whitstable 365. I managed to get 4 photos published, which was a thrill. This year, I won a photo competition, albeit at work. So I decided to push the boat out and upgrade the camera. I now have a Nikon D5500. I thought I might take this photography lark a bit more seriously. Hence this website.
I believe strongly that I have a good eye. With practice and maybe some training (tbc) I hope to improve my skills and produce some really decent photographs.
As of today, the majority of images on this site are from my old camera. I hope to produce better photographs in time. There are a few areas that interest me, and I hope to develop: traditional landscapes and seascape; patterns and reflections, especially those enhanced by natural light; trees, especially dead trees; and old objects in unusual places, or in places of beauty. These are the areas I plan to concentrate on. But I’m limited only by my imagination the limits of my camera.
But what you’ll also find are an awful of photographs of the sunset from Whitstable. Because that, more than most things, is a thing of wonder and beauty.
